II Scientific and methodological school-seminar “Modern sociolinguistics: concepts, methods, tasks”

International Research Laboratory “The Arctic Linguistic Ecology Lab” (NEFU) organized the II Scientific and methodological school-seminar "Modern sociolinguistics: concepts, methods, tasks". Sociolinguistic studies of languages can describe the current linguistic situation of the region and directions of language policy. The findings of these studies contribute to the preservation of the languages of Russia. The school-seminar was held in a hybrid format (online and offline) from September 18 to 21, 2022. The program touched upon topical issues of modern sociolinguistics: for example, lectures were held on topics of toponomics, forecasting of language development, ethno-linguistic identity, the concept of the development of Russian languages and others. Within the framework of the school, on September 19-20, the International Round Table “Urbanization and the language space of the city: new challenges in the XXI century” was held. The key issue of the scientific event was the interaction between toponomy and modern society. The lecturers were Konstantin Y. Zamyatin, PhD, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Galina Sergeevna Dorzhieva, D.Sc. in Philology, Professor at the Buryat State University named after Dorzhi Banzarov, Dambuev Igor Alexandrovich, Candidate of Philology, Senior Researcher, Institute of Mongolian Studies, Buddhology and Tibetology, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Bitkeeva Aysa Nikolaevna, D.Sc. in Philology, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Scientist at the IRL "The Arctic Linguistic Ecology Lab" (NEFU), Kaplunova Maria Yakovlevna, Candidate of Philology, Researcher at the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Senior Researcher at the IRL "The Arctic Linguistic Ecology Lab" (NEFU) and many other scientists.
