December 14, 2022 The International Research Laboratory «Arctic Linguistic Ecology» organized a round table «Linguistic situation in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the 21st century», where the problems of the modern language situation were discussed and scientific monographs of the Doctor of Philology N.I. Ivanova and Candidate of Philology S.N. Kurilova, as well as a special issue of the scientific journal Sociolinguistics (Institute of Linguistics, Russian Academy of Sciences). Leading scientists dealing with the issues of language processes from Tatarstan, Khakassia, Moscow and Yakutsk took part. In the context of digital and socio-cultural globalization of society, the issue of preserving languages is acute. In this regard, the identification of real trends and contradictions in the development of language situations is an urgent task of modern sociolinguistic science, which develops mechanisms for the preservation of languages, and requires constant reflection and informed decision-making in matters of regulating the functioning of languages. The monograph by Nina Innokentievna Ivanova «The Language Situation in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): Sakha Language in the 21st Century (Ethnosociopsycholinguistic Aspect)» is a new ethnosociopsycholinguistic concept of studying the language situation in the context of linguistic heterogeneity, as a result of which a systematic monitoring approach was created in the study of the language situation. The scientific monograph by Samona Nikolaevna Kurilova «Russian vocabulary in the language of the tundra Yukaghirs» is devoted to the issues of assimilation and the functioning of borrowing processes in the Yukaghir language. The monograph makes a significant contribution to the study of the history of ethno-linguistic contacts, the development of the problem of borrowing and the study of word-formation possibilities and mechanisms of the Yukaghir language. These monographs were published as part of the Megagrant “Preservation of Linguistic and Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development of the Arctic and Subarctic of the Russian Federation”, supported by the Government of the Russian Federation (Agreements No. 075-15- 2021-616 dated 07.06.2021). The 2nd issue of the scientific journal «Sociolinguistics» for 2022, which is published by the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the YASSR and includes scientific articles on the problems of language processes in the RS (Y).
