From May 19 to May 20, 2022, young researchers of the International Research Laboratory “The Arctic Linguistic Ecology Lab” took part in the V International Scientific Conference «Preservation and Development of Siberian Indigenous Languages and Cultures» (Abakan, Republic of Khakassia), dedicated to the 160th anniversary of since the birth of the prominent orientalist, Turkologist N.F. Katanov.

From May 19 to May 20, 2022, young researchers of the International Research Laboratory “The Arctic Linguistic Ecology Lab” took part in the V International Scientific Conference “Preservation and Development of Siberian Indigenous Languages and Cultures” (Abakan, Republic of Khakassia), dedicated to the 160th anniversary of since the birth of the prominent orientalist, Turkologist N.F. Katanov. The conference was held as part of the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia and the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022-2032). “On the first day, we presented papers on our sections. I research the syntax of the Sakha language and presented the topic “Concessive polypredicative constructions with the postposition “ihin” in the Sakha language” in the section “Modern paradigms of grammatical and phonetic research of the languages of the peoples of Siberia and other regions”. The moderators were Doctors of Science in Philology Esipova Alisa and Chugunekova Alena. The work of the section was fruitful, everyone's research topics were different, from phonetics to grammar,” says a member of the laboratory, a young researcher Anna Zakharova. Within the framework of the conference, the topic of preserving the languages of the indigenous peoples of Siberia was also discussed and further goals of the collaboration were set. On the second day, the organizers of the conference invited all participants to Askiz village, where we visited the children's holiday of Khakass culture Tun Payram and Ulug Hurtuyah tas. “During this day we have had a chance to get acquainted with the Khakass culture. We, young scientists, have received tremendous experience and advice from leading scientists,” a member of the laboratory shared her impressions.
